My undergraduate days were spent at Lincoln's sister - Downing College Cambridge. I studied Geography and met Jeanette, now my wife, on the same course.
I then entered the world of management, leading some very interesting organisations such as the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, a major teaching hospital, Symbian, the smartphone pioneer, Ordnance Survey, Britain's national mapping agency and several software 'scale ups'. I obtained an MBA from Strathclyde University along the way.
More recently I was one of the founders and Deputy Chair of the UK's first Geospatial Commission charged with overseeing the nation's geospatial assets, and served as President of the Royal Geographical Society.
